YES-O S.Y. 2012-2013

As part of the club’s action plan, officers and members participated in the 10th Youth for Environment Summer Camp held at Teacher’s Camp and Baguio Country Club Multi-purpose Hall, Baguio City last May 1-5, 2012. Representatives of the school joined several contests such as poster making, environmental quiz, debate and YES-O Exhibit.  Meeting people from different regions of the country and the presence of guests made the camp even more fun. Participants of the camp attended interactive plenary sessions, workshops, break-out sessions, panel discussions, planning and outdoor activities with its theme, "Handa Ka Na Ba?" (Climate Change Adaptation: The Next Level)," the YES Camp emphasizes the significance of climate change adaptation and steps up awareness and action to achieve a level of preparedness among individuals, schools and communities nationwide. It is anchored on Republic Act (RA) No. 9512 (Environmental Awareness and Education Act of 2008) and Republic Act (RA) No. 9729 (Climate Change Act of 2009).

The students learned about the science of Climate Change and its effects in the country, developed pupils and students' deeper awareness on the state of the environment, and focused on significant issues and concerns. The camp motivated the students to be involved in worthwhile programs, projects and activities for the environment. It also strengthened the implementation of the YES Program pursuant to DepEd Order No. 52, s. 2011 (Strengthening Environmental Education in Public and Private Schools) and DepEd Order No. 93, s. 2011 (Mandated Programs, Projects and Activities, Various Forms, and Targets Pertinent to the Youth for Environment in Schools Program).
